The Castle Hotel
Kirby Muxloe, Nr Leicester
This fine building was constructed in the 1630’s as a farmhouse for the nearby Kirby Castle and its inhabitants. It replaced another farmhouse on the same site which dated back into the middle-ages.
The noble Kirby Castle at one time possessed an additional tower which was demolished in the 18th Century and the bricks were used in the repair of the farmhouse, so further adding to its character and historical charm.
A century’s old farming tradition ended when the estate was sold in 1918. Later becoming The Castle Hotel, tales of secret underground passages from the Castle to the Hotel were confirmed when one was discovered in 1975.

Directions
From the South – The Castle Hotel can be found just off Junction 21A of the M1. Follow signs to Kirby Muxloe. At the first roundabout in the village, turn left into Main Street and we are 100 metres on the left.
From the North – The Castle Hotel can be found off Junction 21 of the M1. Take the right hand loop and return north bound to Junction 21A, then follow signs to Kirby Muxloe.
